And there is no animal that walks upon the earth nor a bird that flies with its two wings but (they are) genera like yourselves; We have not neglected anything in the Book, then to their LORD shall they be gathered. Surrat ul An`aam, 6.38.
So we are told in the Quran that animals are genera like ourselves. That means they are not just here for accident or for our pleasure but they are here, like us, for God's pleasure. It is God who feeds them, shelters them, and takes care of them;
And there is no animal in the earth but on God is the sustenance of it, and He knows its resting place and its depository all (things) are in a manifest book. Surrat ul Hud, 11.06
Animals are also part of those things to ponder upon, as God tells us;
And God has sent down water from the cloud and therewith given life to the earth after its death; most surely there is a sign in this for a people who would listen. And most surely there is a lesson for you in the cattle; We give you to drink of what is in their bellies-- from betwixt the feces and the blood-- pure milk, easy and agreeable to swallow for those who drink. And of the fruits of the palms and the grapes-- you obtain from them intoxication and goodly provision; most surely there is a sign in this for a people who ponder. And your LORD revealed to the bee saying: Make hives in the mountains and in the trees and in what they build: Then eat of all the fruits and walk in the ways of your LORD submissively. There comes forth from within it a beverage of many colours, in which there is healing for men; most surely there is a sign in this for a people who reflect. Surrat ul Nahal, 16.65-69.
But also, there are provisions in the animals for us;
And God has given you a place to abide in your houses, and He has given you tents.of the skins of cattle which you find light to carry on the day of your march and on the day of your halting, and of their wool and their fur and their hair (He has given you) household stuff and a provision for a time. Surrat ul Nahal, 16.80
Animals are very unique in Islaam. For one, like us, they are acknowledged;
And don't forget the Pets who make our world loving and give us the companionship when we need them.
