Revelation
Quran, which means the Reading in `Arabic, is God's revelation to the `Arab prophet, Muhammad. One day, one of Muhammad's retreats, in a cave called Hira inside a mountain called Jabbal ul Nur or the Mountain of Light, he heard the following voice:
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Read in the name of your LORD Who created. He created man from a clot. Read and your LORD is Most Honorable, who taught (to write) with the pen. Taught man what he knew not. Surrat ul `allaq, 96:1-5.
That was the very first portion of revelation. It was the month of Ramadan the year 610 A.D. Muhammad was 40 years old. It would take about twenty-three years more to complete the revelation. Many were expecting both Muhammad and the Quran.
Pre-Quranic Prophecies
The Quran inserts that people knew Muhammad was God's Prophet:
Those whom We have given the Book recognize him(Muhammad) as they recognize their sons, and a party of them most surely conceal the truth while they know (it). Surrat ul Baqarah, 02:146
Because Islam calls all books, including Quran, the Book, that would include the Hebrew Bible, the Gospels, the Parsi Scriptures, etc. One of the most convincing prophecies is found in the Hebrew Bible, in the Book of Isaiah:
This is what God the LORD says -- he who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it: "I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. "I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you." Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them. Let the desert and its towns raise their voices; let the settlements where Kedar lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops. Let them give glory to the LORD and proclaim his praise in the islands. ISAIAH 42:5-12(NIV)
The whole chapter, God is speaking to an individual. It starts with: Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations. Muhammad is the first prophet of God who ever proclaimed to have been sent to ALL mankind, as the Quran says; And We have not sent you(Muhammad) but as a mercy to the Nations.[21.107] The Hebrew word used in the first verse, HaGoyim - is a word used mostly to describe non-Israelite nations, though it has been used for Israelites, with a clear distinction, elsewhere in the Bible.
But since Isaiah speaks in this form all of his books, we assume the prophecies are for Israel to hear of the future. Hence God's warning them of the things to come, the New Song(the Quran,) the Kedarites finally Singing in Praise of God(Which they have done ever since the Quran was revealed.)
In the Epistle of Sasan I in Dasatir, the Parsi text relates:
"When the Persians will do such deeds, a man from among the Arabs will be born whose followers shall overthrow and dissolve the kingdom and religion of the Persians.
And the arrogant people (Persians) will be subjugated.
Instead of the temple of fire and the house of idols they will see the House of Abraham without any idols as their Direction(Qibla.)
"And they (Muslims) will be a mercy to the worlds.
And they will capture the places of temples of fire, Madain (Ctesiphon), nearby lands, Tus and Balkh, and other eminent and sacred places (of Zoroastrians).
And their leader (Prophet Muhammad) will be an eloquent man whose words and message will be clear and far-reaching." The Epistle of Sasan I, Dastir.
It is very interesting. However, the following Hindu prophecies are far more interesting:
A malechha (belonging to a foreign country and speaking foreign language) spiritual teacher will appear with his companions. His name will be Mahamad... Bhavishya Puran, Prati Sarg Parv III: 3, 3, Mantra 5
"Ahmad acquired religious law (Shariah) from his Lord. This religious law is full of wisdom. I receive light from him just as from the sun." Sama Veda II: 6, Mantra 8
What is very interesting is that Muhammad's other Islamic name is also Ahmad And it proclaims for the Quran what the Quran has proclaimed for itself and is:
I swear by the Quran full of wisdom Quran, 36.2
It is very true. The Quran is really full of wisdom for it teaches man love, tolerance, patience, justice, equality, and most of all, it teaches Truth. We thank the LORD for such a Guidance from Him!
